Your Legal Commitment As Daycare Director

The complete step-by-step guide to starting a daycare

How To Start And Succeed With Your Own Daycare Business.

Finding the right location for your day care is important as it will ultimately affect the sustainability of your business. You should try to source and visit as many locations as possible and assess the location based not only on the rental but accompanying amenities as well. Consider the following factors when making your decision:

Capacity of day care centre
How many children can your daycare facility comfortably accommodate? Is it sufficient to breakeven?

Flexibility of day care centre
Does all the room sizes meet your needs? If not, are you able to easily combine or convert the rooms to suit your needs? Are you restricted by clauses in the contract which prevents you from making small modifications to the premises?

Ambience of day care centre
Is the venue suitable for a day care? A day care located along a busy street might be too noisy for the children during naptime.

Proximity / Accessibility of day care centre
Are there any amenities such as a park or mall where you can bring the children?

Parking facilities at/near day care centre
Are there sufficient parking spaces near your day care for parents to park so that they can pick up and drop off their children easily? This is especially important for locations which are only accessible by car.

Transportation considerations
Is the location convenient and easily accessible by public transport or is it far from the bus station and is only accessible by car? This will impact the type of parents that you will attract to your day care.
